When it comes to 3dtv, price matters but it isn’t the only thing you should look at. People often forget that in order to watch something in 3d they don’t just need the TV. To get your home entertainment system set up and ready for you to enjoy the movie going experience you need the following equipment:
* A medium for display – for most people this will be their 3d compatible TV but some will use a computer monitor or projector so long as these are also 3d ready. There are a variety of 3dtvs already on the market from Samsung, Mitsubishi, and Panasonic etc. You can buy these televisions in either LED or Plasma. The current trend is to buy LED as people seem to prefer the picture quality but it might be worth remembering that they are usually comparing 2d images. Quite a few of the experts believe that Plasma TVs will be more suitable for 3d imaging but with technology advancing all the time this may change.
* You will need a source for the 3d material. For most people this will either be their 3D Blu-Ray disc player or a cable box and subscription to some channels offering 3d material. Those who already have a Playstation 3 will be pleased to know that Sony has a special deal on offer for those with existing PS3s.
* We have already said you need something to watch on your 3dtv. Price comes into this decision too as the best material currently available will be on Blu Ray 3D discs which are more expensive than the usual DVDs.
* You will need 3d glasses and you cannot get away with using your old red and cyan ones. The current batch of 3dtvs require active shutter glasses in particular the ones designed for use with the brand of TV you are purchasing. You will also need a pair of glasses for each person viewing as you cannot share them or see any 3d effects without them.
* Finally you need a HDMI cable to connect your 3d content to the display unit. Look for cables that have high speed connections as a slow connection will adversely affect the quality of the material you are watching.
So when shopping for a 3dtv, price matters but so too does the quality of the package on offer. If you want a great 3d ready TV with a large screen and good picture quality for under $1000, you should look at the Mitsubishi WD 60638.
If you prefer Samsung 3dtv and want a smaller screen, the Samsung LN46C750 is a similar price and also gets great reviews. For a better 3dtv, price may be an indicator of value but it does pay to read the product reviews from people who have actually bought the unit and started using it.
